Coming from a small country like Italy, there was no wedding film school—just regular film school that focused on feature-length productions. I wasn’t into that. I wanted to pursue commercial advertising, music videos, and weddings. Online classes and mentoring were non-existent at the time, so to gain the educational information I needed, I attended workshops and master classes all over Europe.
Needless to say, I really struggled. I couldn’t learn as fast as I wanted to without personalized guidance. As a result, growing my business took a lot longer than it needed to…with a lot of frustrating trial-and-error in between.
Now, I’m passionate about giving other cinematographers access to the kind of hands-on help I wish I had then. Most cinematography mentors will exclusively focus on the creative aspect of your business. They’ll discuss camera gear, technical settings, color grading, and the like. Maybe you’ll learn a few new tricks, but for the most part, they’ll rehash things you already know.
My opinion? You’ve already got the creative aspect handled for the most part. It’s the structure of your business that needs extra support.To really boost your business, you need a better tool kit.
